I dream about such a phone as above - but also with translation capabilities - a translation cellphone.  Imagine if you will - you live a few years in the future, you pick up your cellphone - and you call that person from China who you met on that interesting forum.  No need for you to speak Chinese, or your Chinese friend to speak your language...

You have a translation cellphone - capable of translating between languages in very short order.  There is a bit of a lag - to accomodate for proper translation "meaning" in the recipient's language - but think of the possibilities. 

The ultimate cause of bigotry (us versus them) was in my mind mostly caused by misunderstanding - most often caused by languages which couldn't translate with each other.

There is not much on the Internet on translation cellphones - but translation services are becoming more popular - and in my opinion, I think that translation cellphones will be widely available before the end of the 2nd decade of this century - possibly by 2015.
